Nuckles Inc Nov 29th RESULTS

After having to loose 25lbs to make the 155 lbs mark, I was ready for my first fight back after having my shoulder surgery back on July 30th. Ron Muir was a good opponent to test my new shoulder with some strong wrestling skills of his own. After switching camps from Mile Hi Gracie over to Brad Gumms MMA school, more because of scheduling with my coaching of wrestling than any other reasons, but am very happy with the new training. So after weighing in on friday night and rehydrating for the next 24 hours I was ready to fight...
For a first time promotion in a very nice venue ( Budwieser Event Center ) it went pretty smoothly, good video and audio people, good announcing and nice warm-up rooms with mats and all. Alicia Gumm did a beautiful job taping my hands ready for an all out war, but a bit more of a true strikers wrap than I am used to. The fight started as I had anticipated and I took the center of the cage and made him circle to my low kick just to size him up. He was very jumpy at anything I even faked so I was sure a shot from him was soon to come. I gave him one more somewhat lazy leg kick and he took the shot...I was ready and sprawled just enough to let him keep hold of my leg. I moved into position for a Peruvian necktie and went for it, it was tight, but with a bit too much gauze and tape on the palm side of my hand I couldn't hang on to the Gable grip long enough to make him tap. I felt my hands slipping so I pulled him into my guard and right into a triangle choke, he wisely postured up and didn't let me lock my foot behind my knee. With my back against the fence I was not able to walk my shoulders back and pull him back down so I let go of the triangle and just defended his punches for a minute. He grazed my cheek with a right so I returned the favor with a right straight to his nose bloodying instantly. I think he went into defense mode after that and tried to pull away from my guard, but left his arm in just enough for me to attack with an armbar, it went on instantly tight and he verbally and physically tapped quickly not to let his elbow pop any more than it already had...Tapout 2:41 of the 1st round!!! And new Nuckles Inc. Pro 155 lbs Champion!!!
